A. John Podszus

Alfred John Podszus, 81, of Wake Forest, NC passed away Monday evening, January 2, 2023 at WakeMed.  He was born in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Hans Alfred Podszus and Lenore Eichman Podszus.

As a young boy of 15, John left home and supported himself by playing the trumpet.  He played locally and also performed and traveled with the USO.  After high school, John attended Midland Lutheran College (now Midland University) in Fremont, NE and then went on to Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary.

John served as a Lutheran minister for over 25 years in Arizona and California.  In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling, reading, writing and sharing the word of God. 
 
A memorial service was held at 1 o’clock, Friday, January 20, 2023 at Hope Lutheran Church, 3525 Rogers Rd, Wake Forest, NC 27587.
 
John is survived by his wife of 26 years, Corrine Ogburn Olsen as well as many friends and extended family.
